For over a decade, Smartsheet has been the platform teams trust to drive mission-critical work — from launching rovers on Mars to developing life-saving medicines. But as work becomes more dynamic, decentralized, and AI-enhanced, many tools simply aren’t built to handle the complexities of collaborative work management. Today’s teams need a versatile, purpose-built platform that adapts to modern workflows and scales to handle the future of your work.
That’s why we’re taking a bold step forward with a next-generation Smartsheet platform — redefining work management with a modern, intelligent, and enterprise-grade experience. This next-gen platform is built to scale with the needs of today’s teams and designed to support the way work is evolving — enabling teams to move faster, collaborate seamlessly, and drive better outcomes. As a part of this evolution, we’re also enhancing the user experience with thoughtful design improvements to make work more intuitive and productive.
A major milestone in this transformation is table view, our latest step in redefining work management and modernizing the Smartsheet platform.
Modern, fast, and built to scale: Meet the new table view
Designed for speed, usability, and scale, table view introduces a modern, grid-style interface that makes it easier than ever to organize, analyze, and collaborate on work. Its intuitive and delightful design reduces onboarding time and enhances adoption, while powerful features like autosave, quick search and filtering, and improved formula editing boost efficiency. Real-time updates and new, colored dropdowns keep teams aligned—reducing miscommunication, accelerating decision-making, and driving faster results.
For organizations managing large amounts of data, table view is built for performance at scale. Faster sheet load times and a 10x increase in formula references ensure large-scale workflows run seamlessly, and performance continues to improve with time. Today, it supports up to 50,000 rows and 1 million cells — double the previous limits — with plans to scale to 100,000 rows and beyond.
This launch is just the beginning. Smartsheet capabilities will evolve to support large-scale solutions, giving you even greater flexibility to collect, organize, automate, and report on data at scale. We will also bring AI-powered assistance to help users generate complex formulas effortlessly and create charts conversationally — turning insights into action faster than ever.
More ways to work your way
Table view joins two other views we released last year — timeline and board — that provide flexible ways to visualize and manage work in Smartsheet. Timeline view offers an intuitive way to track projects chronologically, making it ideal for managing date-based initiatives like product launch schedules. Board view streamlines agile and Kanban-based workflows, such as sprint planning.
With seamless view switching, teams can tailor Smartsheet to their unique workflows — without losing context or continuity. Whether you’re a project owner, collaborator, or executive, you can work the way that best suits you.
What’s next for Smartsheet
As we continue to modernize, scale, and introduce new capabilities, we remain committed to empowering teams with the tools they need to achieve extraordinary outcomes. For example, be on the lookout for upcoming features like data links, which will enable seamless data references across sheets without needing complex formulas, and dynamic dropdowns to streamline how teams interact with structured data. These, along with new, AI-powered enhancements and even more innovations to improve automation, collaboration, and scalability, are coming your way.
