Business momentum in EMEA is full speed ahead: Smartsheet achieves 200% customer growth since opening first office, with more than 100 partners in 30 countries

As Vice President and General Manager of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), I'm excited to share the fast growth and expansion of our presence across the region. We’ve seen over 200% customer growth since we opened our first office here in 2018, and we've signed more than 100 partners in 30 countries. Over the last year, we have brought on two new executives, Ben Saville and Justin Dobson, and increased our engineering presence in the UK and Bulgaria.

Our proliferation into the market did not come overnight. At the heart of our expansion is our unwavering commitment to collaborating with our customers to address their most critical business challenges. Our growth is a testament to our strong relationships and the innovative solutions we’ve co-created with our customers and channel partners. We are excited to continue this journey and further amplify our reach and impact across the region.

And we’re not slowing down. To continue to serve our customers in EMEA, I’m going to share our multi-point strategic plan, which will anchor on investing in our product pipeline, meeting customer demand, further expanding our partner ecosystem, and investing in our high-performance workforce. Let’s dive in.

Delivering enterprise-scale technology for customers

Since opening our first EMEA office, our teams have worked with some of the most revered brands in the region, including McLaren Racing Ltd., Bayer AG, Sodexo Group, the English Institute of Sport, Emirates Flight Catering, and the National Health Service (NHS).

We enable companies to drive transformation and create operational efficiencies by enhancing team performance, making intelligent decisions, and maximising project and portfolio value. For example, Germany-based Bayer AG uses Smartsheet to gain real-time insights that inform efficient business decisions. By automating processes, Bayer has been able to create operational efficiencies to the tune of 20,000+ man hours and millions saved in one year, alone.

Accelerating product innovation

As the way we work continues to change, so do the challenges teams face. Our customers need to move quickly, break down data and application silos, and have the right information at their fingertips. To address these evolving challenges, we've introduced recent updates that address the need to embed AI deep in our platform, effectively collaborate within the context of work, content, resources, and operate enterprise grade connections with other platforms.

And, thanks to the growing interest in our products and solutions, we're introducing Smartsheet Summits across multiple countries this year. These in-person events provide immersive experiences for customers and partners to learn more about Smartsheet technology and experiences driving success in their industries and countries. Nurturing and expanding the partner ecosystem

Our Smartsheet Aligned partner programme allows organisations to better connect work, people and technology. It brings together solutions partners, system integrators, and referral partners to build an ecosystem of expertise that helps businesses grow.

For example, to scale its Smartsheet expertise and reduce time to results, customer Delivery Hero partnered with Agile Management Experts (AMX), a Smartsheet Platinum Partner. Together, Delivery Hero and AMX rolled out custom Smartsheet training programmes that drove increased usage of Smartsheet across the organisation. The result is a 25% time reduction on weekly routine tasks, freeing up employees to focus on more strategic work.

Our partner ecosystem will continue to be a focus for us as we seek to push the boundaries of innovation and growth. This continued investment in expanding our partner network across the region will allow us to provide even greater value and help customers achieve their business goals with increased efficiency and effectiveness.

Building and empowering a high-performance workforce

I firmly believe that by attracting, skilling, and retaining top talent across EMEA, we can better meet customer needs, drive product innovation and expand our market presence. Over half of our leaders previously served as individual contributors. In fact, I started as a Product Marketer, transitioned to Product Management and now, as GM and VP of EMEA, I am celebrating a decade at the company. This is an example of our commitment to internal growth, training, and personalised management.

Here at Smartsheet we are focused on empowering high-performing teams anchored in shared values, like having a collaborative and customer-first mindset. We also equip our workforce with the skills and tools necessary to excel, such as tailored training and mentorship opportunities designed to nurture talent and promote innovation at all levels across the organisation.

Achieving 200% customer growth is no small feat, and can’t be done without trust. That trust is a testament to the dedication of our team, whose tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to customer collaboration have been instrumental in addressing critical business challenges. As we look to the future, I’m excited to build on our momentum by amping up our product innovation, continuing to meet customers where they are, investing in our partners and growing our ecosystem, and of course, continuing to build our high-performance team. I’m looking forward to EMEA’s next chapter of growth.
