Dashboard Filters, now available!
September 10, 2026
Dashboards now support filters. A dashboard admin adds a filter panel, and it updates every supported widget on the dashboard at once — so viewers can narrow in on exactly the data they need, like a specific team or time period, without anyone building and maintaining a separate dashboard for each audience.
What's included:
- Pick a data source, filter everything on it — select a data source and the filter applies automatically across every chart and report widget powered by that source, on single-source and multi-source dashboards. Add multiple filters and they apply together.
- Saved filters — dashboard admins can name, save, and share up to 10 filter sets per dashboard, so viewers can jump to a common view in one click.
- Ad hoc filtering for viewers — viewers can build their own filters on the fly for the current session.
- Admin-controlled access mode — a one-time setup choice per dashboard: full access lets viewers use filter dropdowns regardless of their permissions on the underlying source, or restricted access limits filtering to people who already have source access.
A few things to know:
- Filters apply per data source — on a multi-source dashboard, a filter on one source doesn't change widgets powered by a different source.
- Only Enhanced charts (built with AI or built manually) and report widgets are filterable. Charts built on the legacy experience aren't, and need to be rebuilt as Enhanced charts first.
- Saving and sharing filters is dashboard-admin-only. Viewer filters last for that session and can't be saved.
- For the best results, source widgets from your main sheet or report rather than a metrics or summary sheet — those don't carry enough data for filters to apply cleanly.
- Metric and Timeline widget filtering, mobile, and cross-source filtering are planned for later phases.
