Chid Murphy

Chief, Division of Resource Integration and Services

Chid Murphy today serves as the Division Chief for Resource Integration and Services at the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Through personal enablement and enabling his team with work management tools like Smartsheet Gov, Chid has overseen the development of multiple solutions geared towards more timely and improved reporting and processes. His work provides critical support for BIA projects, like Land Area Representation, which is integral to the federal government’s treaty and trust responsibility to protect Tribal sovereignty and get federal lands back into Tribal custody. He has also supported process improvements to several critical programs -- optimizing tracking, accountability, and fulfillment for 53 sovereign Tribal nations. These modernization efforts have also improved public safety, and reduced the loss of human life and property, through enhanced inspection tracking for the BIA Branch of Safety of Dams. As an advocate for modernizing geospatial data to inform federal and tribal policy and the Choctaw Nation, Chid brings a unique blend of scientific and administrative expertise to his role. Before becoming division chief, Murphy was a research hydrologist with the U.S. Geological Survey and the BIA's Navajo Regional Hydrologist, giving him a deep technical background in natural resource management.
